The Futures in review…
The 2016 Futures meets were held August 4-7 at four sites around the country: Austin, TX Palo Alto, CA, Atlanta, and College Park, MD. Having the Futures Championship in our backyard was a great opportunity for PVS swimmers to compete in their own backyard. For those swimmers who didn’t quite qualify for summer Junior Nationals or for local swimmers who didn’t want to travel, the Futures Championships provided another forum to improve their times.
Potomac Valley was well represented at this meet. The teams that were there and the number of swimmers are as follows:
ASA -4, Machine Aquatics – 9. Mason Makos Swim Team – 4, NCAP – 74, Potomac Marlins – 8, RMSC – 18, Snow – 13, The Fish – 8, University of Maryland Aquatics – 4, York – 3.
PV swimmers who received high point rankings include Eksteen, Sinead (NCAP)- 4th, Nguyen, Claire (NCAP) 8th, Yegher, Jaycee(RMSC) 9th, Keating, Anna (Machine) 10th, Hellmer, Jasmine (NCAP) 12th, Robey, Hugh (NCAP) 15th, Burris, Michael (SNOW) 17th, 8 Wu, Timothy (NCAP) 18th, Cooper, Cole (NCAP) 20th, Laporte, Madeline (NCAP) 21st , Cumberland, Will (NCAP) 23rd, and Gati, Isabella (NCAP) 24th.

By all accounts, the inaugural year of Futures being held at the University of Maryland was a success. Potomac Valley was well represented in the A finals and a lot of fast swimming was going on. We would love to hear what you thought of the meet – please comment below.
