The Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championship Meet (Metro’s) will begin tomorrow (Wednesday) with the Boy’s diving competition. Finn Gelbach (The Heights) was 2nd in last year’s competition will vie for the top spot against Aiden Wang (Wootton) & Charlie Berman (Churchill) who just finished 1-2 in the MCPS Division 1 meet last weekend. Flint Hill’s Spencer Bloom and Churchill’s Christopher Winn will also factor into the battle for the top spot.
The girls diving event will take place Thursday, where Michelle Mazzarra (Stone Ridge) who placed 2nd last year is the favorite to win the event. Michayla Eisenberg (Flint Hill) and Lilian Atanda (Sherwood) will likely be her closest competitors.
Friday will kick off the swimming events with the prelims of the 500 Freestyle and the 400 Freestyle Relays. All other events will take place on Saturday. The meet website is up and running: Metros with all the logistics and information about the event. Look for some attempts at new records throughout the meet, particularly in the Women’s 100 & 200 Free, the Men’s 200 IM, 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke.
We look forward to covering the meet, keep your eyes on RFTW as we will have Marcus Chen on deck capturing the action!
