We’re back. And making a huge splash.

By Reach for the Wall Staff Writers.

When the Washington Post decided to pull the plug on Reach for the Wall, it was evident by the number of responses and expressions of disappointment by the swim community that it would be greatly missed. Some of you even may have thought to yourself, “Someone should take it over!” We did, too.

So, we acted on those feelings.  We are a group of passionate swim parents who set up a non-profit organization to run the site, and after a few weeks of work, here we are.  Reach for the Wall is back!

We know what you are thinking.  Can we still access our kids’ times from past summers?  Can we still run virtual meets this summer?  The answer is yes!  The only thing that is missing are past articles, which are the property of The Washington Post.  But, we are working on accessing these through www.washingtonpost.com.   Stay tuned!

We really are excited to bring the site back to life. We want Reach for the Wall to be your go-to source for comprehensive coverage of local swimming in the Washington DC metro area, including Potomac Valley swimming, summer leagues and high school swimming in the DMV.  We also will be adding some new features, including:

  • Nutrition advice and tips
  • Dryland training ideas
  • Educational information for parents
  • A coaches corner
  • Meet calendars
  • Results from meets
  • Product reviews
  • Online shopping features

Most importantly, we want to make this site inclusive, believing that all swimmers (and their parents and coaches) are great and deserve a forum.

We ask for your support. Please tell us what you would like to see.  Please share the site with your family, friends and swim community.  Often.  And if you would like to support this amazing site by advertising on it, please let us know.

We thank The Washington Post, Mitch Rubin and Bryan Flaherty for believing in us and trusting us to take over this site.

    Glad you’re back.

Maybe include the Masters scene in the new incarnation…

Good for those kiddos to see it doesn’t stop

Unfortunately RFTW was on a hiatus during metros. It is now back and we promise to be there next year! We were there in person and it was a great meet!

Hey that is a great question! As we grow we would love to add coverage of diving. In the meantime, please send information our way! Photos too. We would love the help.
