So You’ve Got a Silver Medal … What’s Next?
As all avid swim fans and athletes know, the motivation to compete isn’t derived from the millions of dollars you will earn. This internal drive found in a lot of successful swimmers can translate to endeavors outside the pool, whether in the working world, or day to day activities. The Washington Post recently published an article on Connor Jaeger and his ambitions on a career after swimming. While USA Swimming and sponsors have increased their support for National Team athletes, a long-standing stream of earnings based on performance and likeness is rarely attainable. As stated in the article, every athlete should prepare themselves for life outside of the sport, but still enjoy everything the sport has to offer while you are willing and able to compete.
