2023 ISF Swimming Championships Day 1 Finals

Day 1 Finals saw Team USA battle hard, but not reach the podium (top 3 ) in the individual events, however the Women’s 4 *100 Free Relay: Shayla Zulcic, Ellia Wolfe, Laurel Hoskovec and Elizabeth Gregory
Boys 400 IM:
There was a thrilling race for the top 3 spots between the swimmers from Chinese Taipei and Brazil, with Kai-Yueh Chang touching 1st in 4:42.09, closely followed by the two Brazilian swimmers Pedro H. Neves Moreira 4:42.42 and Pedro Henrique Medrado in 4:44.38
Girls 400 IM:
The two swimmers from Team USA Juliana Cavalcanti and Shayla Zulcic held their spots from prelims, finishing 4th and 7th respectively. Much like the Boys race, it was close at the top with Katie Lee (England) taking the top spot in 5:04.64, followed by Jie-Han Chao (Chinese Taipei) 5:09.33 and Annabel Cooke (England) 5:09.76
Boys 50 Breaststroke:
Gavin Tran from Team US qualified 4th for the final heat, but was just a few tenths slower and completed the race in 5th. The to p3 spots went according t otheir qualifying positions, but a bit faster for each swimmer Max Morgan(England) 29.59_> 29.50; Ziqiao Zhao (China) 29.79-> 29.77 and Shu-Wei Shih( Chinese Taipei) 30.61-> 30.10
Girls 50 Breaststroke:
The top 3 swimmers held their positions from prelims, Jasmine Carter (England) 33.12, Imogen Myles (England) 33.34 and Sophia de Andrade Isidoro (Brazil) 33.75
Boys 100 Backstroke:
Only 1 second separated the top 4 in the final with 2nd seed Kai-Yueh Chang (Chinese Taipei) dropping over a second from prelims to take the win in 59.44 Aran Bissett (England) touched just .02 behind, finishing in 59.46, followed by André Lopes (Brazil) in 1:00.15
Girls 100 Backstroke:
Team England found the top spot on the podium again with Gabrielle Freeman touching 1st in 1:04.18. Team Argentina earned their first medal of the meet with Cecilia Mabel Dieleke finishing 2nd in 1:04.45, closely followed by Tong Wu (China) in 1:05.39
Boys 4 * 100 Freestyle Relay:
Team Brazil took the top spot, swimming with the exact lineup as the prelims, dropping 12 seconds, finishing in 3:32.25. 2nd place went to England in 3:33.72 and China nabbed the 3rd spot on the podium in 3:42.50. Unfortunately, Team USA had an early takeoff and was disqualified.
Girls 4 * 100 Free Relay:
Team Brazil and Team England flipped their prelim standing, with Brazil taking the gold in 3:56.45. Team England was a close 2nd, finishing in 3:57.19 and Team USA grabbed bronze in 4:05.57!
