The diving portion of Metro’s started Wednesday night with the Boys competition and concluded last night (Thursday) with the Girls. On the Boys boards, Dylan Imirowicz, a Junior from B-CC was 20 points clear of the field at the conclusion of the event. Throughout the 3 rounds of dives, he and runner-up James Skipper (Whitman) were matching reach other dive for dive. After 5 dives, Skipper held a 6.85 lead, but in the semifinal round of 3 dives, Dylan was able to cut the lead to 3.9 points. The 1st dive of the last round (Dive 9) sealed the win for Dylan, where he completed the Forward 1 1/2 Somersault 1 Twist Free with degree of difficulty (DD) 2.2, which earned him 49.5 points. James executed the Back Dive Pike, garnering 32.8 points, giving Dylan a 12.8 point cushion into the last two dives. Dylan’s next dive was the Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck with a 3.0 (DD) and while he scored 5.5-6.5, the (DD) earned him a 52.5 for the dive.
Skipper executed the Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault Pike with a 2.4 (DD) earning 46.80, however Dylan’s lead was extended to 18.5. Dylan sealed the win with his final dive, the Inward 1 1/2 Somersault Pike, 2.4 (DD), earning 52.8 points. Skipper’s last dive was the Back 1 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Free with a 2.5 (DD), earning a great score of 51.25, but not enough to bridge the gap Dylan built.

This was the first time Dylan has captured the Metro championship after finishing 3rd in 2024 and 9th in 2023. His B-CC teammate, Zach Meisel, also finished in the top 20, capturing 13th overall. Whitman, which traditionally has placed their divers in high positions in the diving event had all 4 in the top 11, James Skipper (2nd), Sam Adelson (7th), Tobias Saberi (8th), and Asa Hsu (11th). Dylan Zimsky, Sophomore from Bullis, captured 3rd, one week after diving to the top spot at the WMPSSDL Championships. The Whitman Boys heads into the weekend at the top of the team standings with 63 points.
