Exclusive: MCSL Long Course Invitational Photos-Freestyle and Backstroke

July 8, 2025 Rockville, MD- After the IM swims, the meet progressed to the ‘long-axis’ strokes, with Freestyle and Backstroke. Before we get into the results and pictures, here’s a few statistics about the swimmers and teams that qualified for the meet. In all there were 63 teams represented (91 in the league). Ten of those teams had 10 or more ‘swims’ for the meet, Rockville topped the list with 34 swims (20 individual swimmers). There were 125 swimmers that qualified and swam the maximum of 2 events. There were three 7 yr olds that swam fantastic- watch for these ‘young guns’ next year!:

Lynn Wilson (Stonegate) Boys 50 Breaststroke and 50 Butterfly- placed 3rd in both events
Liam Sandstrom (Stonegate) Boys 50 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly-placed 2nd in Free and 1st in Fly!
Chelsea Lopez (Clarksburg Village) Girls 50 Freestyle-placed 4th

The age group with the ‘most’ swimmers was the 12yr olds, where there were 47 different swimmers (29 differnt teams), the next closest was the 14 yr olds which had 42 different swimmers (26 teams), with the 8 yr olds next closest with 37 different swimmers (24 different teams). There is a 3-way tie for the least represented age groups…the 7 yr olds, 11 yr olds, and 15 yr olds each had three swimmers in the meet. This is all to highlight that the talent in this meet is not concentrated in a single age, team, or area of the county, there are fast swimmers in every division and geographic area!

Freestyle

8 & Under Boys

Everett Greenstreet from Potomac won with a time of 35.99.
Liam Sandstrom from Stonegate placed second with a time of 36.16.
Ryan Sanders from Robin Hood finished third with a time of 36.37.

8 & Under Girls

Olivia Cofield from Stonegate won with a time of 37.07.
Molly McCullough from Old Farm placed second with a time of 37.91.
Grace Wilmot from Regency Estates finished third with a time of 37.93.

9-10 Boys

Jonathan Li from Woodcliffe won with a time of 1:07.91.
Noah English from Bethesda placed second with a time of 1:08.69.
Taylor DeLuca from North Chevy Chase finished third with a time of 1:09.12.

9-10 Girls

Catalina Diener from Poplar Run won with a time of 1:10.03.
Emme Lebruto from Northwest Branch placed second with a time of 1:10.91.
Chloe Yang from Rockville finished third with a time of 1:12.64.

11-12 Boys

Nickolas Nishnianidze from Quince Orchard won with a time of 59.88.
Ethan Hu from Woodcliffe placed second with a time of 1:00.28.
Noah Nedd from Robin Hood finished third with a time of 1:03.07.

11-12 Girls

Sara Young from Rockville won with a time of 59.76.
Grace Zettler from Potomac placed second with a time of 1:04.38.
Andrea Young from Potomac Woods finished third with a time of 1:04.40.

13-14 Boys

Daniel Mulla from Fallsmead won with a time of 54.91.
Selim Ericson from Northwest Branch placed second with a time of 55.56.
Joseph Xu from Stonebridge finished third with a time of 56.11.

13-14 Girls

Harper Bartholomew from Wildwood Manor won with a time of 58.65.
Mara Ahearn from Hallowell placed second with a time of 1:00.00.
Izabella Mason from Poplar Run finished third with a time of 1:01.09.

15-18 Boys:

Joshua Lopez from Calverton won with a time of 1:55.45.
Mikhail Kojanov from Tilden Woods placed second with a time of 1:55.94.
Lachlan Bartholomew from Wildwood Manor finished third with a time of 1:56.06.

15-18 Girls

Andrea Dworak from Forest Knolls won with a time of 2:03.05. *Has won this event 3 years in a row, only loss as a 15-18 was to Olympian Erin Gemmell in 2022
Madeleine Simmons from Seven Locks placed second with a time of 2:05.28.
Elanor Saybolt from Wildwood Manor finished third with a time of 2:08.97.
