Montgomery County Pool Needs
It’s no secret that there is a shortage of indoor pools in Montgomery County. Many swim teams in our area currently cannot meet the demand from swimmers for lack of pool space. The swim community is in particular need of a 50 meter long course pool with a warm down pool, spectator seating and an electronic time clock that can host both short and long course meets, provide needed pool space for swim teams, and can be used for recreational purposes by the entire community – children and senior citizens alike.
The Montgomery County Department of Recreation and the Department of General Services are considering the development of a new Clarksburg Region Community Recreation and Aquatics Center, and are inviting the community to join them for a forum on June 8 at 7pm at Rocky Hill Middle School to help them evaluate the county plans for this center. Please try and attend this important meeting.

Here is a Master Plan Update for the Ovid Hazen Wells Recreactional Park where the proposed Clarksburg Region Community Recreation & Aquatics Center would be located.
The purpose of the forum on June 8 is to help the Montgomery County Department of Recreation and the Department of General Services to define the needs of the Clarksburg region for the community recreation and aquatics center. In order to propose a project for approval, the project must first be well-defined and cost-estimated. This community forum is at the very beginning of the process and it’s important to give input and show interest by attending.
