Colonial Swim League Week 5
More league records to announce…
On Wednesday at Chinquapin, Wahoo swimmersEmil LaSida and Ronan Lauinger both went under theBoys 11-12 100Y Individual Medley record of 1:04.88. Ronan touched the wall in 1:04.22, and Emil left no doubt who the new record holder is with a time of 1:02.68. At Franklin Glen the same evening, it was ManorGate’s Lexi Cuomo rocketing to a time of 28.43 in the Girls 15-18 50M Butterfly, well under the Michelle Griglione’s mark of 29.19 set in 1986.
On Saturday at Sugarland Run, Julia Moser of Chase Club powered to a time of 30.67 in the Girls 15-18 50Y Breaststroke, nearly a second faster than the 27-year old mark of 31.56. And finally, in the Boys 9-10 100M Medley relay, the Ashburn Village relay consisting of Charlie Barker, Aaron Lee, Chase Fulton and Andrew Char scorched the waters with a time of 1:10.13, edging out the Burke Centre Penguin relay which had set the record of 1:11.36 earlier this season.
By the way, the Red Division “opened a can” on this particular 9-10 relay record this summer, with three different Red Division teams combining for five relay swims under the pre-2016 record, including the record setting swims by the Ashburn Village and Burke Centre Penguin relays.
Congratulations, Ronan, Emil, Lexi, Julia, Charlie, Aaron, Chase and Andrew on your outstanding swims! Well done!
Saturday’s meets also of course decided the races in the previously up-for-grabs Red, Blue and Gold divisions. TheBurke Centre Penguins completed their dominant season by defeating a very fast Ashburn Village squad to take the Red Division crown. In the Blue Division, Ashburn Farm edged Franklin Glen to finish 5-0 and win the crown. Finally, CountrySide won at home against Sequoia Farms to secure the Gold Division trophy.
Congratulations, Penguins, Burke Centre Stingers (who clinched last week), Barracudas and Waves!
