MCSL 2016 – Over and out…

Sunday wrapped up the final day of the 2016 MCSL season.

In the individual all-star events, the star of the show seemed to be the Jolyn trunk show.  At least for the girls.  While they might have  busy buying cute suits, everyone was decked out in their fastskins, proving once again that the kids in the MCSL come to championship meets ready to swim fast.  For fun, we decided to score the meet using a 1-20 scoring system.  The top ten teams are as follows:

Rockville 468
Stonegate 359
Tally Ho 299
Regency Estates 255
Woodcliffe 232
Connecticut Belair 230
Country Glen 219
Cedarbrook 213
Germantown 210
Woodley Gardens 195

Keep in mind that MCSL does NOT score this meet, we just wanted to see how things would play out if they did.  It’s also important to note that a lot of top swimmers scratch this meet – some decided to take family vacations and a lot of the older kids are training for and are in the middle of a taper for some of the larger championship meets. (Be sure to keep your eye out for a “food for thought” article later this week about the scoring of meets!)

The teams and divisions were all well represented at All-Stars this year.  We want to recognize teams that had 15 or more individual races (if a swimmer swam two events that would be counted as two races).  They are as follows:

Bethesda 15, Cedarbrook 19, Connecticut Belair 19, Country Glen 21, Franklin Knolls 16, Germantown 22, Olney Mill 15, Regency Estates 19, Rockville 43, Stonegate 33, Tally Ho 21, Tilden Woods 16, Woodcliff 20, Woodley Gardens 19, Wildwood Manor 18.

Individual MCSL records are as follows:

In Honorable mentions you stated that “a swimmer” (boy) was .45 off 13-14 IM record, and that swimmer being at the bottom of his age group (13). By the same principal you can say that Catherine Belyakov was .32 off 13-14 IM and Catherine is also being at the bottom of her age group (13). It is important to mention that being at the bottom of her age group (13) in 100IM Catherine had one of the fastest time among all girls in MCSL in 100IM (including girls 15-18).

We only looked at events where there was not a record broken for individuals that were close. We will surely see others who were in the #2 spot this year taking down records next year. You are correct, the times get a lot tighter as the kids get older as it gets harder to drop time! We updated this article to reflect Catherine’s accomplishment. Let us know if you see any others we missed!

Based on numerous publications in RFTW, looks like the Tallyho (Division A) is the Editor’s favorite team :-)! However, there are some other girls and boys besides the Division A :-)!

We don’t have any preference for any team – we are parent volunteers who put this together in our free time. When we take off our RFTW hats we definitely have preference for the teams our kids swim on. (None swim for Tally Ho and we represent five divisions in all!)

Most of our reporting on divisions is based on parents submissions. Feel free to send us a complete write up on your Divisionals and we
Will add it to our recent article!! We didn’t hear from many of the divisions, including yours.
