Olympic Trail Qualifiers from PVS as of 1/7/2020
By Reach for the Wall Staff
SwimSwam recently reported there are 1,131 athletes that have qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials being held in Omaha, NE June, 21-28. Filtering the SwimSwam list for PVS swimmers, we found there are 27 athletes, 8 males and 19 females! On the whole, these athletes have qualified for 14 different events, the most popular being the 100 Free, 200 Free, and 400 Free, each with 6 qualifiers (men & women). The next events are the 100 Back, 200 IM and 50 Free, each with 5 qualifiers. Katie Ledecky leads the way for the number of events with 7, Torri Huske is close behind, having qualified for 6 events, Phoebe Bacon, Sean Conway and Erin Gemmell each have 4 individual events. As we get closer to the Championship season, many Regional and National meets will provide the opportunity to compete in Longcourse Meters (LCM), and should have additional qualifiers (both athletes and events) from PVS. In order to qualify for the Olympic Trials, a swimmer must attain a qualifying standard from November 28, 2018 through June 19th, 2020. USA Swimming will accept new qualifications from first-time qualifiers from June 16th-19th, but won’t update anybody’s entry time based on swims after June 15th. Congratulations to all who have already achieved the standard & good luck to those that will strive to qualify in the coming months!
