By Reach for the Wall Staff

Occoquan Swimming (OCCS) kicked off their ‘Meet of Champions’ last night, which is the second meet in December that is providing a trials and finals format for swimmers. The meet is taking place at the Central Park Aquatic Center, which has taken such precautions as providing a HEPA Filtration system on the pool deck and in high traffic rooms for additional air purification, as well as stating that the pool is equipped with UV Light along with chlorine to disinfect the water constantly. The meet is being live streamed via the OCCS You Tube Channel, with each session being streamed separately. Full results are also available on Meet Mobile under ‘2020 13 & over Meet of Champions’.

Last night the 1000 Freestyle was competed, segmented by gender and age groups: 13-14, and 15 & over. The Girls 13-14 race was won by OCCS’s Brooke Worth as she took the win in 10:53.04, besting the field by 37 seconds. The 13-14 Boys race was closer as OCCS swimmers Sean Lingafelt and Grant Golembiewski battled for the top spot. Sean prevailed in 10:40.95, just .07 ahead of Grant. The Girls 15 & Over event was won by OCCS’s Alyssa Martel in 10:16.65, and was 14 seconds clear of 2nd place Lauren Hartel from AAC.
