USA Swimming 18 & Under Champs: The Awards!

In a press release from Thursday 1/21, USA Swimming announced they will honor the top finishers of the 2020 18 & Under Winter Championships during a virtual award show Thursday, January 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
(We’ll update later this week if it is different, but we think this will stream on the USA Swimming website )
Joel Shinofield, Managing Director of Sport Development for USA Swimming, stated: “We know many athletes did not have a chance to compete in 2020 and helping them safely return to the water is our highest priority. This competition was a great example of the swimming community as a whole doing what it takes to create opportunity for young athletes. Congrats to everyone involved!”
As reported by SwimSwam, the following award categories will be presented:
- High Point Female
- High Point Male
- Top 8 in each event for male and female
- Top 3 teams
Given the above criteria, here’s a rundown of PVS swimmers that we expect will receive ‘virtual’ awards for the top 8. We believe Torri also has a lock on the Female High Point and Anthony Grimm just missed on the Male High Point award by 7 points. In the team competition we noted back in December that Nation’s Capital took 3rd overall. Congratulations again to all the swimmers that competed, hopefully we will see another series of Championship meets in March!
