2023 ISF Swimming Championships Day 2 Prelims

Team USA is starting to pick up some momentum with a few additional swimmers qualifying for finals today. Canden Theodos got it started qualifying 7th in the Boys 200 Freestyle in 2:02.92, almost 2 seconds faster than his seed time! Chase Rabe sits on the bubble in 9th with a 2:05.60 and Kyle Chen finished 14th in 2:09.95. The girls had two qualify for finals, as Elizabeth Gregory is 4th with a 2:13.14 and Ellia Wolfe is 7th in 2:14.17. Juliana Calvalcanti finished 11th in 2:15.41 and Riley Dunnett 18th with a 2:20.06, both girls surpassing their entry times!
Gavin Tran led the way for Team USA in the Boys 100 Breaststroke, posting the 3rd fastest time of the morning in 1:06.88 (Top 3 qualifiers hit the 1:06 mark!). Anthony Hess finished 10th in 1:12.90 and James Cundiff 15th in 1:15.66. In the Girls 100 Breaststroke, the trio from Team USA, Kayla Rust 1:22.89, Maile Rust 1:23.63, and Angela MacLeod 1:23.65 finished 13th, 14th and 15th while Layla Davy-Brown finished 18th in 1:24.39.
The Boys 50 Backstroke, Luke Husbands was the lone entrant for team USA and finished 17th in 32.21. Layla Davy-Brown was the top finisher for the girls in 33.94, good for 17th. Riley Dunnett finished 21st in 34.29, Ryli Cazanave was 22nd in 34.30 and Siannah Schmidt was 28th in 39.83
Chase Rabe made it into the top 8 in the Boys 200 Butterfly, touching the wall in 2:20.71, qualifying 6th. Laurel Huskovec qualified 8th in the girls race with a best time of 2:38.61. Skylar Rabe also competed, finishing 13th overall in 2:51.98. The girls 400 Medley Relay also qualified for finals while the boys relay disqualified for an early start.
