The Virginia High School League (VHSL) conference meets were held January 27-28 with many swimmers looking to make their ‘cuts’ to swim in the Regional and State championship meets.
To qualify for Regions, a swimmer has to be one of the top six finishers in the Finals heat at the Conference meet or achieve a Regions qualifying time at any high school meet during the current season, including any heat at the Conference meet. At the Regions meet, the fastest eight individuals/relay teams will advance to finals, and the second fastest eight swimmers/relays advance to Consolation Finals.
To advance to the State meet, a swimmer must achieve either a VHSL qualifying time (see links below) in one or more individual or relay events, or finish in the top 10 in individual events in his/her respective Regional championship (or finish in the top 8 in relay events in his/her respective Regional Championship). A qualifying State time may be obtained during any 2016-2017 regular season high school meet, a VHSL sanctioned invitational, or in the school’s Conference or Regional Championship meet.

The State meets are scheduled to be held the weekend of February 17-19, with the Regions meets being competed either the weekend of February 4 or February 11. We will try to keep up with results as they are available.
Best of luck to all VHSL swimmers!
