GW Women’s Swimming & Diving Lands Second A-10 Title in Three Years

GENEVA, Ohio – Flexing its impressive depth across the event lineup, GW women’s swimming and diving left no doubt at the Atlantic 10 Championship, closing out its second conference crown in three years on Saturday night.The Buff and Blue totaled six more medals and took down two more program records on the final night of the meet to finish with 701.5 points, well clear of second-place Duquesne (509 points) in the team standings.GW closed out the meet by earning its 17th medal of the week with Barbara Schaal, Grace Olivardia, Erin McCarthy and Marlee Rickert combining on a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay in 3:21.48.When it was over, everyone piled in the pool at SPIRE Institute in celebration of the program’s first sweep of both A-10 team titles.That scene capped a memorable week for the Buff and Blue, highlighted by six program-record swims.The title push, under the direction of A-10 Coach of the Year Brian Thomas, came into focus with all 20 scorers contributing to the final tally.
